Nancy
Acosta - Center Director
Nancy has always been interested in childhood development from a young age and believes that the first five years of a child's life are vitally important. She believes teachers have such a wonderful opportunity to create a positive impact on children. She gained her initial experience in the education field during 1999 by teaching children 2 and 3 years of age. She thoroughly enjoyed early childhood development and wanted to further her knowledge by obtaining her Childhood Development Associate certification in 2000. During this time she left she became a mother to her own little girl. After having her daughter, she went to work for a law office and had to place her in childcare. That experience truly helped her to view childcare from a parent's perspective and what a quality childcare program should entail. After 4 years at the law office and the birth of her son, Nancy had a prestigious opportunity to help open a preschool from the ground up and learn valuable information about the implementation of a quality preschool program. She worked at the school as a Pre-K teacher for the first school year while obtaining her Associate in Arts Degree. In an effort to grow within the education field, Nancy became a member of NAEYC as well as SECA to stay up-to-date on the current issues of early childhood development. She has experience with substitute teaching with children ages 2 months to 12 years in order to obtain experience in all of the levels of childhood development and developmentally age appropriate practices. Nancy was promoted as the Assistant Director of that same preschool in 2007 and enjoyed not only working with the parents, teachers and children, but also learning about all of the management and administrative responsibilities of maintaining a quality early childhood program. It is Nancy's goal to enhance any childcare program that she works with, as well as to draw information and experience from the colleagues that she has the opportunity to work with.
